Galerie am Brüsseler Platz
Alp – Träume : die Biomorphe von Adam Lewin

08.12.2012 – 04.01.2013, Vernissage: 08.12.2012, 19:00 Uhr

Press Release
12.08.2012 – 01.04.2013,
Opening: 12.08.2012, 7 pm.

Berlin based artist, Adam Lewin, was chosen for a solo exhibition at the Galerie am Brüsseler Platz in Cologne.
He will be displaying a range  of biomorphic paintings, screenprints and drawings in December 2012. The body
of work he will be presenting can be described as biomorphic-object collages or automatism ( a surrealistic
practice of unconscious improvisation). Inspired by natural-science drawings and mechanical schematics,
the use of seemingly functioning components almost parody logic. These works reside in the grey zones between dichotomies. Between abstract and representational, minimal and complex, arbitrary and deliberate, cognitive and intuitive, they feel balanced and complete, reflecting the multiplicity of urban life.

Adam Lewin was born in New York City in 1970. He studied at the Pratt Institute and The Gerrit Rietweld
Academie in the Netherlands. He has worked as an illustrator and art director since 1992 and started his
independent career as a fine artist in 2005. Lewin currently lives and works in Berlin and teaches design
at the Berlin Institute of Design.
